Just one week before the start of the speedway season in Poland and 14 riders got to take part in the Henryka Zyto Memorial pairs match in Gdańsk.

The host team were joined by Mikkel MichelsenKrzysztof BuczkowskiVaclav Milik and Kai Huckenbeck to make the competition.

And the good news for Gdansk fans is that their top riders seem to be in good form with Rasmus Jensen top scoring with 14+2 and Jakub Jamrog and Kyrstian Pieszczek finishing off with 15 points a-piece.

Lower down the order their U24 riders are going to need more time, but at least Britain’s Drew Kemp scored 4+2 paired up with Pieszczek.

The winning duo was Jensen and Opole’s Andrei Kudriashov. The Russian thrived on the track and scored 10+2 and his performance might be the most interesting take home from today’s pre-season match.

As might be expected the 2019 SEC champion, Mikkel Michelsen, picked up a maximum with 12 and the other guests will also be pleased with their performances and a chance to get their bikes set up in a real life, match situation.

The only concern from the friendly is over Czech rider, Vaclav Milik, who fell heavily in Heat 18 and did not return to the match. The rider has signed a “Warsaw contract” with Falubaz Zielona Gora and will need to be fully fit if he is going to honour the deal.
