Toruń have dominated eWINNER1 league this year and no one expected anything other than an away win when they travelled to Ostrovia this afternoon.

But Danish riders Nicolai Klindt and Jonas Jeppesen did not seem to have read the script and did all they can to defeat the league leaders.

After Heat 6, Ostrovia were behind by 10 points after a 2:4 victory by the Holder brothers and Klindt came in last. It seemed like business as usual – another Toruń win was on the cards.

But Klindt decided he had enough and came out in his next two heats on fire picking up 6 points.
Whilst he was at 5, fellow Dane, Jeppesen was at 8 and relished his super-sub roll. He came and won heats 10, 11 and 12 leading Ostrovia to two 5:1s and bringing them level at 36:36.

Klindt would finish the tie with 8pts from 5. And significantly, he won Heat 13 as the team took a second 3:3 in a row. That turn the match into a mouthwatering winner-takes-all nomination heats decider.

And it was Jeppesen who again turned on the gas and raced to two more victories in both nominations heats to secure a perfect 15 from 5 rides against the league’s top team. He scored a maximum 18 in Sweden for Indianerna away at Vetlanda. So it is surely not impossible that he will find himself on the roster for Toruń next year when they go up into the Ekstraliga next year after this superb performance.

Behind the flying Dane in Heat 14 was Ostrovia’s Polish rider, Adrian Cyfer came in third in Heat 14. And that 4:2 heat victory would be all the separated the two teams as Ostrovia won 46:44.
Top scorer for Toruń was former world Champion, Chris Holder.
