Increased cases of Coronavirus in the country, withdrawals of players and teams make for bleak reading on the British speedway webpages for the 2021 season.

English speakers Robert Lambert (Kings Lynn Stars) , Jason Doyle (Swindon Robins) and Rohan Tungate (Peterborough Panthers) have all announced that they will race Sweden instead of the Premiership as a result of Ekstraliga’s decision to only allow riders to race in one country outside Poland. It is a big disappointment for Sheffield Tigers fans too, who never got to see Nicki Pedersen ride in 2020 at the club.

But perhaps one of the biggest shocks in the announcement that 2019 champions Swindon Robins will not take part in the league at all as they are rebuilding their stadium this summer.

As yet no plans have been released as to when or how British speedway will take place this year. But promoters are keeping a positive message that their will be action on in the British Isles this year.
