The England team won first place in the Speedway of Nations competition. Will this success help to wake up the English speedway? According to Rob Painter, the director of the England national team, for sure, although the whole process of rebuilding the speedway in England is still a long way that requires a lot of work

I think that last weekend’s victory, the first after thirty-two years, will help not so much in the development of speedway itself in a sports sense, but in its promotion in our country. For the first time in a long time, the national team wrote again about our success in Manchester, pointing to the fact that a very young team was successful. Certainly, the more such messages in the media with wide coverage, the better for our discipline. Gold will certainly help to promote the discipline – tells us the Englishman.

Rob Painter is absolutely not mega  optimistic after Sunday’s success. On the contrary. The director of the representation claims that the entire English speedway community still has a lot of work to do to achieve the intended goals

– In my opinion, this is really the perfect beginning of the long road ahead of all of us. We must continue to focus on training young players so that, thanks to their development, we raise the level of our speedway. Of course, the Rising Star program plays a great role here. Thanks to him, many young competitors got the chance to regularly start with the best and thus develop. The program still requires further development and improvement to bring the expected benefits for our slag. The title won on Sunday was the first “return” on a long-term investment. A few more years must pass before we can say that the assumptions of our development plan created by the BSPA have been implemented. The success is as I said, but no one is optimistic. We are still working to ensure that as many players as possible reach the level of our three Sunday heroes – sums up Rob Painter
