Peterborough missed the chance to cement their place at the top of the Premiership on Monday evening after losing at home at the hands of Sheffield. The visitors roared to a 51-39 win, meaning that the Panthers now need a win on Thursday against King’s Lynn to seal top spot ahead of the playoffs.
As much as it was a bad night at the office for Peterborough, Sheffield laid down a marker for their end of season hopes. The Tigers have already confirmed their place in the top four but perhaps now other sides will think twice about taking them lightly in the playoffs.
Team manager Simon Stead told the clubs website: “I just feel like we’ve not quite had the rub of the green for the last few meetings, injuries upset our balance, but we’ve come back fighting and really our season starts now.
“It’s been so frustrating because I’ve felt like we’ve had the right people in, but we’ve just not all fired at the same time, and tonight has just proved what a force we can be when everything goes right.”
