Seifert starts in Sweden

The 20 year old Danish rider, Jonas Seifert-Salk, has started his first ever season in the Swedish Elitserien, where he has joined Motala Piraterna.

2019 in Allsvenskan

After a positive experience with Norrköping Vargarna in Allsvenskan in 2019, he had intended to go back there for 2020 before trying to get a break in the top division. He scored 1.800 P/H+B, putting him on a similar average to Swedish U21 champion, Alexander Woentin. The two Nordic rivals are almost exactly the same age with the Dane being just six days older than the Swede.

Changing plans and clubs

But the virus put a stop to Sweden’s Allsvenskan.

However, where many might have given up the Dane saw an opportunity. There were spaces to be filled in the Elitserien and after looking around everything worked out with Motala, “I had a good chat with the manager [David Davidsson] and it sounded really nice,” he said.

Making an impact in Sweden

“My aim with the club is to be a consistent rider,” he says, “I just need to get more relaxed and more focused,” he goes on reflecting about his season so far. He has 1.240 average after 5 meetings for Piraterna, making him the club’s third highest scorer behind compatriot, Peter Kildemand and local Motala hero, Jonas Davidsson.

He is contracted with Opole in eWinner2 and also with Slangerup in the Danish league. But at the moment the focus is on Sweden. „There has been no call from Poland and no news from Denmark,” he said. It seems unlikely at this late stage of the year that the Metal League will go ahead at all.

Every season has winners and losers, and for Seifert-Salk, this year is turning into a fantastic opportunity to develop in the top division of Swedish speedway.
