Former World Champion, Chris Holder and 2020 SGP debutant, Max Fricke may not have the best season for Wroclaw in the Ekstraliga finishing outside the top 25 in heat average. But today they redeemed their own season, as well as their club’s, by a dominating display at home against Zielona Gora.

Falubaz came to the match with a five point lead and the question as to whether that would be enough hung in the air.

And today we got a resounding answer, NO! as only as Slovenian SGP rider, Martin Vaculik was the only one who turn up with medal winning form for the visitors. He scored a maximum 18 points, whilst a dismal display from the rest of the team saw only one rider score more than 5 points, veteran Piotr Protasiewicz (7+1). Their southern hemisphere rider, Rohan Tungate, scored just 3, twice finishing last in his heat.

Chris Holder, on the other hand was back to the sparkling form, reminiscent of the form that won the 2012 SGP series, top scoring with 14.

Max Fricke and British junior, Daniel Bewley, were completely different people from the ones who started the season and were dropped from the squad. The Australian, still on a high from his SGP Round 7 victory scored 10+3, whilst Bewley also seems to have refound himself after sitting out for a month with a shoulder injury, scored 8+2 from the #8 reserve position.

For both Australia and the GB Team tonight’s match maybe a big factor is they are going to have success in next week’s Speedway of Nations tournament in Lublin.
