Rain caused the start of the speedway season in Sweden to be delayed yesterday and in neighbouring Denmark today only one of the four scheduled matches went ahead, with the other matches moved to 19 May.
But in Vojens, Anders Thomsen’s SES hosted Mikkel Michelsen’s Slangerup Speedway, in a match that had a great deal of overtaking and undertaking despite the damp conditions.
However, it was not Thomsen who would top score for the home team after the Gorzow rider fell in heat 5. Instead it was German, Kai Huckenbeck who took 12 points from 6 heats showing good form before the start of eWinner 2 league at the weekend where he will represent German club, Landshut.
It was a closely fought tie, with the teams level at 33:33 after heat 11.
But two 1:5 victories for the visitors in the following two heats paved the way for a 37:47 win. Michelsen top scored for Slangerup, missing out on a paid maximum by just one point as he scored 16+1.
You can watch the whole match on Vojens Speedway Center’s own You Tube channel.
