The Swedish Individual Championship will be held at Målilla again, this time at on Tuesday 13 June 2021.

Swedish Elitserien’s Dackarna made the announcement on their website following confirmation by the national board, SVEMO. The venue will also host the U21 Championship, which has been dominated by Alexander Woentin for the last few years and the Youth Championship both due to take place on Saturday 31 July.

It remains to be seen if it will be three times in a row for Jacob Thorssell, who will be representing Dackarna again in 2021.

His closest rival last year, Oliver Berntzon, will be racing in the SGP in 2021, has also moved clubs from Dackarna to be at Gislaved Lejonen. It will not be a surprise, however, if the 27 year old Swede chooses to miss the national championship and focus on the World Championships.

If Fredrik Lindgren also chooses to remain in Poland and not contest the Swedish championship, as he did in 2019 and 2020, in remains to be seen who can challenge the current champion, Thorssell.

With Antonio Lindbäck going into retirement at the end of 2020, the competition could see some new names taking the medals. But Kim Nilsson, Pontus Aspgren, Linus Sundström and Peter Ljung should be in the reckoning on previous season’s form.
